The Brooklynettes Expand to China in New Talent Variety Show “CheersNets”

The Brooklyn Nets games deliver much more than fast breaks and buzzer-beaters. The Brooklynettes bring just as much fire as the players, turning every game into a show. With punchy, fierce numbers and plenty of sequins, the urban-chic performers have been winning fans across the world since 2012, when the Nets moved to Brooklyn and launched its official dance team. Now, the Brooklynettes are taking that signature style global with CheersNets, a brand-new talent variety show in China.

Produced by Tencent in partnership with the Nets, the series puts 45 dancers from across China in the spotlight. Over six episodes, they’ll battle for eight coveted spots on the first-ever Brooklynettes China Team. Contestants will be judged on technique, musicality, and their ability to fit the Brooklynettes’ signature edgy, cool style. In addition to the judges’ selections, viewers in China will also have the chance to vote for their picks as the dancers take on individual and group performances to secure their spots on the team.

CheersNets premiered on September 5 across Tencent platforms in China and will run through October 9, when the eight selected dancers will be announced in the final episode. Then, later in October, the Brooklynettes China Team will debut at an event in China alongside current Brooklynettes dancers before continuing to perform on its own.

“As part of our Brooklynettes entertainment platform, we are incredibly excited to introduce our new Brooklynettes China Team,” says Criscia Long, the Nets’ senior director of entertainment, in a press release from the team and Tencent. “This partnership not only allows us to connect with our fans in China on a deeper level but also provides a platform for these amazing dancers to shine on an international stage. We can’t wait for everyone to see what they can do.”

And we can’t wait to see the results!
